OUR FUTURE

The global economic challenge requires action here at home. Pretty speeches, letters, and articles are not enough!

As working parents with two young girls, both Kismet and I understand the challenges facing families today. As a father, I want us to think and plan ahead for all of our children. We must set local priorities. We must obtain our fair share of federal investment. We must help ourselves right here at home.

You know my priority is the McKenzie Overpass – I want to know yours.

Juan de Fuca Senior’s 55+ Activity Centre Expansion

The following is from Troy DeSouza’s letter, printed on August 13th in the Goldstream News Gazette.

I am confident that I can help deliver results for the Juan de Fuca Senior’s 55+ Activity Centre expansion which I have been working for during the last three months. I met with the centre’s directors and have been very impressed with the work they have done and more importantly, the money they have raised on their own. They just need a little help from the feds and the province.

There are 21 infrastructure requests in the Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca riding. Not all will be granted as there are more requests than money is available. However, I have urged the feds to make the senior’s centre expansion one of their top priorities.

The PM’s visit at Royal Roads University was to announce $35 million in education infrastructure investments throughout B.C. and at our local university. It’s surprising that our MP was not aware of that and raised false hopes that the PM’s visit was to announce the senior’s centre expansion.

For all his posturing, Keith Martin has never contacted the Minister’s regional office to push for funding on any one of the 21 infrastructure projects.

Worse, he has misled our seniors when he has no idea as to what he is talking about. This is another example of Martin’s grandstanding and ineffectiveness as an MP.

Update: Thanks to Troy’s hard work, this project was approved for federal funding with the most recent announcement.
